IEC 61850 ENGINEERING, COMMISSIONING AND MAINTENANCE

IEC 61850 standard is developed focusing on the improvement of the substation automation. This is accomplished avoiding proprietary protocols in order to integrate different vendors in the same project. At the same time, IEC 61850 uses advanced technologies to reduce cost in wiring and engineering time and it also tries to improve the commissioning and maintenance process.

  • DO YOU WANT TO LEARN THE IEC 61850 ENGINEERING PROCESS?

  • DO YOU WANT TO KNOW HOW TO CONFIGURE THE COMMUNICATION WITH THE SCADA SYSTEM AND THE REMOTE TERMINAL UNIT?

  • DO YOU WANT TO KNOW HOW TO CONFIGURE THE ETHERNET MULTICAST COMMUNICATION OF THE GOOSE MESSAGES?

Within ENSOTEST we have been working with IEC 61850 standard from the very beginning. We have experience in development, conformance testing, automation and commissioning of IEC 61850 projects.

Improve your IEC 61850 knowledge in the most efficient way with us.

3 DAYS WORKSHOP TO BE AN EXPERT IN THE IEC 61850 STANDARD

The course is split into three modules with practical tools.

  1. Engineering with SCL tools.
  2. Configuration of the communications with the SCADA and remote terminal unit.
  3. Configuration and validation of the GOOSE automation.

TOOLS AVAILABLE IN THE WORKSHOP

1

SCL system configuration tool

The system configuration tool is able of integrating SCL files of different devices by configuring their networking parameters and the data flows among protection devices. This tool also configures the information sent to the different clients as the SCADA or Remote Terminal Unit.

2

IEC 61850 client tool

This software is able to connect to any IEC 61850 server discovering their information model, changing settings, sending commands and monitoring status and measurements by polling or enabling the spontaneous reporting.

3

GOOSE traffic analyser

The GOOSE analyser discovers all the GOOSE messages on a Ethernet network, registering events and comparing the messages with the system SCL file to find any deviation.

4

IEC 61850 server simulator

This simulator loads the SCL file of any device replicating their model and being able to exchange the data requested by the SCADA and the RTU. The simulator also sends the GOOSE messages configured in the SCL file provided.

COURSE MODULES IN DETAIL

1

Engineering with SCL tools

This module details how to perform the IEC 61850 engineering using SCL tools. The topics discussed include importing and exporting SCL file formats, the IED modification capabilities described in the standard and the communication and data flow configuration.

2

Configuration of the communication with the SCADA and Remote Terminal Unit.

This module describes the configuration of the communication between the protection and control devices acting as servers and the different clients as the local HMI or the Remote Terminal Unit. The different tools for testing are also described.

3

Configuration and validation of GOOSE exchanges.

This module describes the configuration, validation and testing of the Ethernet Multicast GOOSE messages in the system. The different tools for testing are also described.
