COURSE 61850: Principles and applications

IEC 61850 standard is developed focusing on the improvement of the substation automation. This is accomplished avoiding proprietary protocols in order to integrate different vendors in the same project. At the same time, IEC 61850 uses advanced technologies to reduce cost in wiring and engineering time and it also tries to improve the commissioning and maintenance process. This course will be the best way to start wit IEC 61850.

  • DO YOU WANT TO LEARN THE IEC 61850 STANDARD PRINCIPLES WITHOUT READING HUNDREDS OF PAGES AND VENDOR DOCUMENTATION?

  • DO YOU WANT TO DISCOVER THE STANDARD CHANGES AND HOW THIS AFFECTS TO THE NEW DEVELOPMENTS AND PROJECTS?

  • DO YOU WANT TO BE ABLE TO SOLVE ANY DOUBT ACCURATELY AND WITH VENDOR INDEPENDENCE?

Within ENSOTEST we have been working with IEC 61850 standard from the very beginning. We have experience in development, conformance testing, automation and commissioning of IEC 61850 projects.

Improve your IEC 61850 knowledge in the most efficient way with us.

7

Vendor and project related documents

This module explains the PICS, MICS, PIXIT and TICS documents provided by the vendor as product documentation. As a user of the system the utility must request some IEC 61850 specific documentation in each project. This documentation is detailed in this module.

8

Conformance testing, commissioning and maintenance

This module describes the conformance test process of IEC 61850 and the UCA certificates. The commission process testing and the capabilities provided by the standard for the maintenance process are also explained.

9

Role base access control and security additions

This module explains how to include security measures and how role based access control will be added to IEC 61850 devices.

10

Evolution of the standard and applications out of the substation

This module describes the new functionality of edition 2 and the work in progress with the edition 3.  In this module we also explain how the standard can be applied to automate hydro power plants, wind farms, distributed energy resources and even for the electrical vehicle chargers.
